ABOUT US

Elaine Morando is the co-founder of Koinonia Concepts, a space where creativity meets genuine and heartfelt community.

While initially growing up in New York, and then living in five additional states afterwards, she has had the amazing opportunity of experiencing many different incredible landscapes, cultures and people across the country. While moving inherently comes with its own challenges, it also allowed her to grow deeper in her faith and understanding of how even though each culture and person seemed so different, deep down we truly are all the same. We want to feel loved, connected, and accepted as we are. Perfectly, imperfect.

E

1. Her soul belongs to the ocean (anything coastal) and has no problem singing along to Jimmy Buffett while deep sea fishing.

2. The longest time she played one song on repeat while writing her first novel was just over six hours.

3. She spent fourteen years volunteering as a Girl Scout Leader and Cub Scout Leader, where activities ranged from supervising the "dealers" selling cookies, to nights turning into a popsicle freezing her butt off in tents.

With over twenty-five years in the marketing, design and event planning industries, she used her creative gifts to develop vision and experiences for architectural and interior designers, homeowners, individuals/families, churches and a strong focus in the hospitality industry. She’s also a photographer and published author who loves to imagine and share stories. After all these incredible chapters in her life, she came to recognize them for what they really were, a preparation for a more soul deep and spirit-led calling.

Koinonia was inspired by God and created by two big-hearted friends over deliciously warm cups of coffee, and a passion to find unique ways to bring the type of community back together that made people feel like they had a true sense of belonging and genuine connection.

Her desire isn’t to merely put together or host an event, but to create unique heart-felt moments and lasting memories of genuine togetherness through personalized and intentional storytelling celebrations.

Julie Diaz is the co-founder of Koinonia Concepts, a creative studio built on the belief that belonging changes everything.

Growing up as a Mexican-born immigrant taught her that community is everything. Her parents built their life from the ground up, surrounded by faith, food, and family. She learned early that belonging doesn’t just happen, it’s something you must create.

For over a decade, Julie worked in the print and design world, bringing creative visions to life for other people. She loved the work, but something in her heart kept whispering for something deeper. More meaning, more connection, more *why*.

Enter Koinonia Concepts, a dream born from friendship, faith, and a shared desire to bring people together. Now, Julie pours her heart into designing moments that feel like home, where laughter is easy, conversation flows, and everyone belongs.

There has been a prominent thread through it all: Belonging.

Julie believes that life’s richest moments happen when people gather with intention to share stories, celebrate culture, and rediscover the beauty of connection.

When you meet her, you’ll feel it right away: she’s the warm hug, the calm energy, and the “let’s make something beautiful together” kind of friend.

1. She’s powered by cafecito, meaningful conversations, and an unreasonable amount of notebooks.
2. Her playlists go from worship to Bad Bunny without skipping a beat.
3. She’s equal parts Excel spreadsheets and creative chaos.

"Community, for me, is sacred. It’s the table where everyone brings something different, yet we all leave more nourished. Growing up as a Mexican-born immigrant, I learned that community is more about it’s about presence, generosity, and shared resilience than it is about proximity. My parents built a life brick by brick, surrounded by people who showed up for one another in small but powerful ways. My mother taught me showing compassion, cooking up a warm plate of food, and friends to share it with are the things in life that truly make you rich. Her legacy has taught me that we don’t rise alone." - Julie

Through Koinonia Concepts, we want people to know that no matter where life has taken them or what experiences have shaped them, belonging and community are things they have the power to create, and the good news is that we don’t have to wait to be invited. We’re here to help nurture that through meaningful, intentional gatherings where creativity is celebrated, culture and stories are shared, and every detail honors the people at the heart of it all. No matter the occasion, our hope is that guests leave feeling connected, seen, and celebrated. But most importantly, that they are reminded that true community can exist outside the noise of what society says a celebration should be. At Koinonia, we do events differently.

CREATING

LIVES

Genuine connection is the most important tool we have to build belonging. It’s the difference between simply attending an event and truly feeling part of something bigger.

We live in a world that moves so fast. Technology keeps evolving and though it’s designed to bring ease and convenience, it is somehow driving us further apart. We’ve traded shared moments for shared screens, and now we find ourselves trying to buy back the sense of community we once had for free.

That’s why slowing down matters.

When we take the time to really see each other and show up with intention, to listen, to share stories, to make space for authenticity, that’s where belonging begins. Real connection asks us to drop our masks and bring our whole selves to the table, without fear of judgement or exclusion.

That’s what we want every Koinonia gathering to embody: conversations that linger, laughter that feels like home, and the kind of human moments that remind us we’re never alone...we share our lives together.
